AM- What can we expect?

Following the announcement that a fifth studio album is ready for release on September 9th accompanied by a UK tour this autumn, it's no surprise that Arctic Monkeys fans everywhere are rejoicing. Whether it’s the Elvis style quiff Alex Turner is currently sporting, or the guitar riffs flowing through pre-released album tracks R U Mine? and Do I Wanna Know?, one thing’s for sure: Arctic Monkeys are back.

With the release of R U Mine? last February and Do I Wanna Know? early this month, fans of the Sheffield based band are being given a sneak peak into the album simply entitled ‘AM’.  Similar to tracks from it's predecessor 'Suck It and See', these tracks witness Turner's ever clever mix of witty yet meaningful lyrics with Helders' faithful drum beats that seem to carry every song along. Yet there's something about these songs that seem to ooze sex appeal. Whether it's the result of Turner's new Rockabilly look or simply just the sound of that beloved Sheffield accent, there's something about Turner's lyrics that seem to be causing male and female listeners alike to swoon. "I'm sorry to interrupt it's just I'm constantly on the cusp of trying to kiss you." Again, AM witnesses Arctic Monkeys creating songs that are simple but soulful, allowing their fans to repeatedly relate to them.

In comparison to former albums 'Suck it and See' and 'Humbug' however, these tracks are driven forward by heavy guitar riffs and drum beats, similar to those first encountered on 'Whatever People Say I Am That's What I'm Not.' All in all, these pre-released tracks are two that whilst satisfying their fans, can also be seen leaving them hungering for more.

So what does AM have in store for it's listeners? With confirmed appearances from Queens of the Stone Age's Josh Homme, The Coral's Bill Ryder- Jones, and Elvis Costello's drummer Pete Thomas, AM is set to be yet another Arctic Monkeys album unlikely to disappoint.
