Styling the Seventies!

Having a walk in wardrobe that’s as fabulous as Carrie Bradshaw’s is an aspiration of mine and so to say I love clothes is a slight understatement. As a fashion contributor, being given a heads up on the upcoming trends is a real perk and one of my favourite trends of 2016-2017 is the ongoing Seventies Style. Gracing both high end designers and the high street, the trend kindly offers us ladies a number of approaches. So whether you're a peace loving, bohemian babe or a diva who loves to D-i-s-c-o, here are my ideas on how to work it!

Shop the Sales | A Wishlist

Although for some a New Year calls for a complete transformation into a 'New Me', here at Of a Different Kind we prefer to view it more as a friendly update; a promise that this year we'll be bolder and braver when it comes to lifestyle choices - although the chances of that actually happening are close to none! One thing that never changes though is our undying love of fashion particularly when it comes to anything printed, fitted, or Parisian/Mod-Inspired (can we get an Amen) and whilst our sales shopping this year has seen us sensibly investing in the seasonal wardrobe essentials of boots, jeans, and thick knitted jumpers (merci beaucoup Topshop/Topman), we couldn't help but lust after some of the other beautiful things being offered online. So as we gather up the leftover Christmas and birthday money, here's a quick wishlist of some of our favourite items.

Make Your House a Home | Christmas 2014

Aside from opening the doors of Advent Calendars and feasting our eyes on the festive food slowly making it's way into the supermarkets, getting into the Christmas Spirit as you get older can be difficult. But with the shops now showcasing some sh-amaaaazing window displays and local brass bands playing loud chorus' of Let It Snow and Ding Dong Merrily On High whilst we shop, we've found ourselves beginning to get a little bit giddy the closer we get to Christmas. So with the lyric 'It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas' now constant looping in our heads and our hands cupping our favourite Christmas coffees, we've braced the rush of the shops and indulged in our love of homeware to create a quick guide to our favourite decorations now available across the High Street.

This Is IT.

When seeking style inspiration, there tends to be that one celebrity who inspires us with every paparazzi photo, magazine cover or Instagram selfie and for me, that person is Alexa Chung. As a self-proclaimed lover of The Chung, I often find myself sneakily searching Google images to see how she’s rocked something before I’ll buy into a particular trend. Therefore the thought of being given direct insight into what inspires and excites Alexa herself left me feeling pretty excited. Plus, reading this totally counts towards my English degree, right?

AM- What can we expect?

Following the announcement that a fifth studio album is ready for release on September 9th accompanied by a UK tour this autumn, it's no surprise that Arctic Monkeys fans everywhere are rejoicing. Whether it’s the Elvis style quiff Alex Turner is currently sporting, or the guitar riffs flowing through pre-released album tracks R U Mine? and Do I Wanna Know?, one thing’s for sure: Arctic Monkeys are back.
