This Is IT.

When seeking style inspiration, there tends to be that one celebrity who inspires us with every paparazzi photo, magazine cover or Instagram selfie and for me, that person is Alexa Chung. As a self-proclaimed lover of The Chung, I often find myself sneakily searching Google images to see how she’s rocked something before I’ll buy into a particular trend. Therefore the thought of being given direct insight into what inspires and excites Alexa herself left me feeling pretty excited. Plus, reading this totally counts towards my English degree, right?

I was bought this book as a gift (thanks Jord) and really like its content and design. Memoir meets life guide, It is a beautiful blend of hand drawn illustrations, photographs, life stories and at times, brutally honest discussions about heartache and other adult woes. With pages discussing early experiments with make up, childhood inspiration and idols, a love of old music and even an unexpected life goal, It graces the literary market like a breath of fresh air. Written with an ongoing mix of sarcasm and wit, It leaves you feeling that not only is Alexa the kind of girl you'd want to be your lifelong bff, but she's actually really funny.

Whilst unconventional, It ironically strips Alexa of her 'It Girl' status and reminds us that behind that killer wardrobe, she's a genuine person like the rest of us. I love her sarcasm, honest attitude towards fashion and even the way that, like me, she'd rather listen to The Smiths than Rihanna.

Alexa's book is a real shout out to her fellow lovers of indie, art and everything in between. With final tips including how to take the perfect selfie, the top 5 songs that should be included on a playlist and even the timelessness of her infamous navy jumpers It, much like that jumper, is something you'll find yourself turning to time and time again.
